It allows citizens to find a voice in local government and issues in areas that go outside the vote.<\/i><\/span><\/h3><h5><span style=\"color: #ffffff; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/h5><h5><span style=\"color: #ffffff; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>PURPOSE OF A CIVIC LEAGUE\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/h5><p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #ffffff;\">Whether a homeowner, a tenant, or a business person in a given community, everyone has something to gain by working together to improve the community. A civic league will provide many benefits:\u00a0<\/span><\/p><ul><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #ffffff;\">Be the unified voice of the community<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #ffffff;\">Utilize the diversity and differences of the community by involving as many residents as possible<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #ffffff;\">Educate citizens on the community\u2019s unique needs and strengths<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #ffffff;\">Raise awareness of matters affecting the community and steps to influence the outcome<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #ffffff;\">Facilitate community volunteer programs<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #ffffff;\">Educate residents on how to identify community needs and access City services<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #ffffff;\">Communicate recommendations, suggestions, and\/or modifications to City Council to improve the quality of life in the community<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #ffffff;\">Represent the community and its wishes at meetings and public hearings<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #ffffff;\">Resolve problems at the community level and when unsuccessful, access City Hall<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #ffffff;\">Provide a framework in which to work together in the prevention of crime and improve the quality of life<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #ffffff;\">Help
